About

I

I love music and programming.

I use blender for my 3d, switched from 3ds max.

I am what can be described as a "data hoarder" ("Cloud" sucks!)

My everyday tooling

My daily driver is a ThinkPad x1 Yoga Gen6 with Windows(tm) and MX Linux on board. For my work I mostly use a MacBook M1.

I use iPhone 12 mini cellphone (I mainly use it to make calls and hot-spot the internet to laptops, and sometimes to take photos).

It Makes me sad that the they do not make decent compact cellphones anymore these days.

I use Canon G9X camera to take photos, Fiio X5 to listen music, and Onyx Boox Leaf to read books. I also use Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for PDFs. I believe having dedicated devices for as much tasks as possible makes a lot of sense.

There is a list of software I use too in the notes.

Music

I love music... It's mostly electronic music now. My favorite performer is Carbon Based Lifeforms, and favorite music subgenre is Dreampunk. There is a list of my beloved music albums in the music section of this website.

I prefer my music stored offline, in a portable format, too.

Programming

I mostly use JavaScript (for over 15 years now...). JavaScript == Anarchy.

I prefer two-space indents, use vscode (I don't do drugs, honestly!) and use dark themes everywhere.

Games

Sometimes I play computer games... Mostly the old ones, like Heroes Of Might And Magic II, or Quake, or Transport Tycoon. I love playing sherlock sometimes. Also a huge fan of Divinity series (well, except Dragon Commander). The list could go on, actually - there are hundreds of games I love and feel nostalgic about, but that's a topic for later times, I guess.

To be honest, I hate modern competitive games. I believe, when a game becomes competitive the fun of game itself ends (sporty fun starts tho, but I don't like the "sporty" approach to things). I used to play Quake2 a lot in the past and even took part in various tournaments. Still love it, but no longer spend time training to "git good"

This website

This is my tenth or so attempt to make a website for myself. In everyday life I'm a front-end developer, I have made and took part in making of hundreds of websites - but never managed to make a decent one for my self.

The previous attempt ended when my VPS has literally burnt. This very attempt had already died once when OVH provider had failed me.

I don't like so-called "dynamic" websites - with CGI, CMS, APIs, CRUDs, SQL, Clean URL rewriting and whatnot. I believe simple sites like mine absolutely do not need all that - all they need is some worthy content. Get back to the basics, yay!

There's no analytics of any kind on this website, at least for now (as I don't really care about those).

Also trying my best to design this website in a text-first manner. It actually does use some modern website techniques and even a heavy asset (the font weights around 25KB!), but should in theory be usable even in text-only browsers.

Anarcho disclaimer

This website has links to some third-party websites (like Spotify, Google, Goodreads, YouTube and probably some others). I do not encourage you to use these, but doesn't mean I discourage you from anything (who am I to tell you what to do).

I actually DO believe using some of these impedes the freedom, tho, and that this world would be better without monopolies and social networks yadda yadda, but I'm merely a consumer, not a cool crypto-kid.
